The Thar Coalfield, the world’s seventh-largest coalfield, features extreme desert conditions with temperatures reaching up to 52°C. For more than a decade, the site has witnessed stable and reliable operation of TONLY mining equipment, marking a successful 12-year strategic partnership between TONLY and Pakistan’s SECMC.

In August 2026, TONLY participated in Pakistan’s inaugural Mining Technical Conference. SECMC senior management held in-depth exchanges with the TONLY team, reviewing the long-term cooperative relationship built on solid trust. The stable collaboration is backed by TONLY’s extreme-condition engineering capabilities, continuous product upgrades, and maturing localized operation and service systems.

During the conference, Zhang Ruiquan, Sales Director of TONLY Southeast Asia Region, delivered a keynote speech titled Global Vision Localized in Pakistan Practice. He presented TONLY’s full range of hybrid, pure electric and autonomous mining trucks, together with integrated PV, energy storage and battery-swapping microgrid solutions, supporting Pakistan’s transition toward greener, smarter and low-carbon mining operations.

TONLY began its Thar project deployment in 2014, sending technical teams to conduct on-site surveys and optimize equipment for local high temperatures, long-distance haulage and complex road conditions. 

In 2016, customized 60-ton desert wide-body dump trucks were officially put into service, launching formal Sino-Pak mining equipment cooperation. TONLY also pioneered an innovative overseas model combining equipment export and general contracting services.

Following the official commissioning of Thar Coalfield in 2018, TONLY’s 60-ton mining trucks delivered consistent and stable transport capacity for large-scale mining. 

The fleet continued to upgrade iteratively, with 70-ton vehicles introduced in 2023 to improve operational efficiency. 

In 2024, pure electric mining trucks were deployed to launch local green transportation exploration. 

In 2025, 90-ton heavy-duty mining trucks entered operation, setting a new local haulage record. To date, TONLY has delivered over 600 units of mining equipment, forming one of the largest and most advanced vehicle fleets in the region.

The pure electric mining truck project launched in 2024 has become an important benchmark for new-energy mining applications in high-temperature desert environments. Accumulated operational data provides valuable references for the commercialization of electric mining trucks under arid and hot climate conditions. TONLY and SECMC are jointly promoting the Phase IV new-energy mining project to expand electric vehicles from individual trials to large-scale, systematic mine application.

Working closely with CMEC, TONLY has established a comprehensive localized service system in Pakistan. The complete support system includes local operator training, regional spare parts warehouses, rapid response service mechanisms and permanently stationed technical teams. The standardized local service model ensures stable vehicle operation and continuously improves overall mine efficiency.

Over 12 years of continuous cooperation in Pakistan, TONLY has achieved comprehensive upgrading across technology, products and services.
